January 2008 Archives
So after taking Jasmine to the emergency room the weekend before last, and Alyssa spending a few days in the hospital this past weekend - Jean needed to go tonight. Preferably, we would go see our primary care provider but she recently left the practice. Actually, 2 of the 3 doctors at the practice recently left which leaves 1 doctor covering everyone's patients - hence no availability. There is a nice urgent care center which has a smaller co-pay than the emergency room, you can still make appointments, and they are designed for after hours.
There were more coughing kids than you could shake a stick at. If I need to go back, and I am hoping that I don't, I am going to go to one of the offices that doesn't get that busy. They seem to think whatever Jean has is viral though not the flu and told her to manage her fever alternating tylenol and motrin along with plenty of fluids. If it isn't better in 5-7 days, to go back.
This really sucks. Arggggh. God is good though. It is hard to keep things in perspective but I am a truly blessed individual and my family rocks.

Since Alyssa has been home from the hospital, she has been a very happy girl. When I hold her in my arms and sing to her she smiles and sticks out her tongue at me. That makes my heart sing.
When Jasmine wraps her arms around me and tells me "I love you very much Daddy", that makes my heart sing.
When Jean pulls off the seat cushions on the couch so that Jasmine can fit too (laying 3 across), that makes my heart sing.
Hearing Jasmine sing and dance and make music filling in the words that she doesn't know with interesting alternatives, that makes my heart sing.
Seeing my wife cook and clean after having no sleep but still finding time to ask me how my day was and wipe Jasmine's runny nose and tell Alyssa how beautiful she is, that makes my heart sing.
Watching the 3 ladies in my life enjoy a late afternoon nap together - that makes my heart sing.
