Homestead Gardens

Parents are weird. So we made our annual trip to Homestead Gardens to see the Xmas light display, trains, etc. While we were watching the trains, Mom and Dad quizzed me about dinosaurs like

"What kind of dinosaur is a long neck" - brontosaurus

"What kind of dinosaur is a flyer" - pteranodon

"What do you call a person who digs in the dirt and studies dinosaur bones" - at this point, I was getting tired of such elementary questions so I rolled my eyes and answer "paleontologist". Mom and Dad found this humorous.

Then, while we were walking around I said "Dad, let's go over here - this is where they had the penguins last time - remember". For some reason he seemed rather surprised that I would remember the location of the store where they kept the penguins since I hadn't been here for a year and I am not yet 4 years old.

Whatever - parents are weird.

Wow! Just Wow! Mom signed me up for a ballet school that runs 45 minutes a session for 6 weeks. I got all dressed up in my pink ballerina outfit (as did Alyssa) and we got to school a few minutes early. There were already other girls dancing and running and playing. Guess what - they were almost all just like me - extroverted chatterboxes. The class was for 3 to 5 year olds and I fit right in. We did a few poses like holding our arms out in front of us in a big circle like a pizza (we thought that was funny) and strutting around like a duck. Anyway, it was a great time and I can't wait to do it again next week.

I have been good - really good. Mom and Dad were so impressed they asked me if I wanted a new bed (the Dora The Explorer toddler bed was getting a bit small). I was very excited and insistent upon getting a pink flower bed. Well last weekend we went shopping and bought one but it CAME TODAY!!!! I gave my old bed to Alyssa and now I am sleeping in a real bed. Dad re-arranged the room so that Alyssa and I both have beds in the room. This bed is soooo cool, it has a built in reading light and bookshelf in the headboard. Anyway - I am very very very happy.

Today we went to Phyllis and David Smith's annual crawfish boil. They had a bunch of things for us kids like a moon bounce, a face painter, bubbles, a jungle gym and of course candy. Unfortunately, the candy was inside a pinata and we had to take turns wacking it with a stick. Sorry, no America's Funniest Home Video's caught on tape.

Can't A Girl Get Some Beauty Sleep?

I have a bit of congestion in my chest most likely due to climate differences between here and Vegas (yes, Dad helped me write that line to sound all grown up). Anyway, you would never know it as I run and full speed from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. I do have a bit of a coughing fit in the morning and sometimes laying down to go to bed - but other than that, everything is fine. Well last night around 1AM I woke up to go potty and started coughing but something broke loose and I choked and the choking made me gag and, well, it is pleasant thing to talk about but I threw up all over my bed.

I made sure to wake up the entire house to share in my discomfort though *evil grin*. Once Mom had it all cleaned up (Dad was watching Alyssa), I told her to get out so I could go back to sleep. I was a bit concerned about my blanket and my dolphin but Mom assures me they will be cleaned today.

Anyway, I may be a little grouchy today due to the lack of sleep - take it with a grain of salt.

Mom makes sure I get plenty of water - it's good for you ya know. Anyway, this means I sit at the dinner table after everyone else has finished while I drink my water. Tonight Mom gave us corn as a vegetable. Well, when you are sitting in a room alone and bored, you tend to do crazy things like sing to yourself in order to keep entertained. Tonight, I decided to see what would happen if I stuck a kernel of corn up my nose. Yep, it didn't come out.

I started screaming and Mom was trying to help but Dad came in and abruptly took over - he could use some tact since Mom could have probably handled it without any help. Anyway, he used a nasal aspirator (nose plunger) to get the kernel to move a bit as it was stuck in there good. He put one finger against one nostril and had me blow hard. The corn just came shooting out. I forgot I was upset and started laughing.

Dad made it very clear I was never to stick corn or anything else up my nose or in my ears or in any other orifice (I'm 3, does he really think I know what an orifice is?) ever again.

IT'S SNOWING

A couple of days ago, I got a cold. Nothing serious - a yucky cough and a runny nose (no fever). It is the worst at night because the drainage goes back into my throat and I cough and can't fall asleep. I am also not very keen on taking medicine though I suspect Mom has been slipping me some in my apple juice.

A few minutes ago, Mom told me it was snowing - WOW. I asked to go out but she told me I couldn't because I was still sick. I told her in no uncertain terms "where's the medicine, give it to me now". I even spilled some I was working so fast to get it in my mouth.

Mom helped me call Dad at work to see if perhaps I might be able to convince him. When he answered the phone I said "It's snowing". The next words out of Dad's mouth were disappointing - "I hope you get better soon so you can go out and enjoy it". I told him I already took my medicine. I don't know but I think I won him over, he asked to talk to Mom.

Breaking Update - News Flash: Dad told Mom it was ok to let me go out for a few minutes. It wouldn't help me get any better but it wouldn't make me get worse either. YAY - first snow of the season.

So much for keeping Daddy's secret

This was a 3 day weekend for Dad. On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for a few hours and I had fun. We didn't do much yesterday because Dad was not feeling well. He told me a secret though - he whispered so Mom couldn't hear "we are going to the park tomorrow". Mom tried and tried to get me to disclose the secret but I wouldn't.

This morning, I asked Dad if we were still going to the park and we did. Well, almost. Dad got lost - severely - like for 40 minutes we drove around in circles. When we finally did get there I had to cram as much in as possible. That may have been a mistake.

On the ride to the restaurant to get apple juice, I wasn't feeling very well. Just as we were pulling into the parking lot - I blew chunks - repeatedly. Luckily Mom had a change of clothes for me but I still felt icky and had yucky chunks in my nose and throat that kept making me choke. Yeah, I know - not a pretty picture. We got some mac-n-cheese to go and headed home. I fell asleep - with all the heaving, crying, and playing - I was exhausted.

I woke up some time later and felt better after some apple juice. Dad took my temperature and was a bit concerned that it was 96.2. I was shaking and shivering but since I had emptied my stomach and it was way past supper I demanded my mac-n-cheese - YUMMY. While I was eating Mom and Dad were dressing - a hooded jacket (they made me wear the hood), a pair of pants, socks, etc. I kept right on eating.

Well, I feel a bit better now but let me tell you - next time Dad wants to tell me a secret - I will tell him to keep it to himself.
