This has become my motto. I am tired of being treated like a baby so I have started acting like a big kid now. The transition hasn't been easy. While I sleep in my own bed through out the night, it is right next to Mom's bed. While I do go pee on the potty, I still wear a pamper and end up telling Mom after the fact as often as not. The point is - I am making a concious effort to be a big kid now and I would appreciate it very much if you treated me accordingly. For instance, yesterday I went #2 on the potty. I think this happened once before but it was more accident then anything else. Yesterday was a concious intent - I told Mom I had to go.
Oh, and in case you are wondering what a big kid wants for Christmas - I am way into Disney Princesses and Mickey Mouse Club House.
I am learning new words everyday. I am even improving my pronounciation on other words. I still tend to only vocalize the first syllable of a word which is frustrating to Dad. How did he put it, oh yeah - so many polysyllabic words begin with the same syllable that you really need to pay attention to pick up context to know what I am saying.
He isn't at all concerned because I am obviously smart but I could tell I should work on it a bit. To this end, I have conned my sister into helping. When we got back from grocery shopping last night, Jaz and I went into the playroom while Mom took care of the groceries. Jaz would say "Very good Alyssa, now say X" as she pointed to whatever X was in the picture books we have. We make a good team but I am not sure who is playing who. Jaz is obviously trying to impress Mom and Dad by being a good "big sister" and while I love my sister dearly, I too have ulterior motives.
Whatever - the silly parentals will never figure it out. They are blissfully ignorant and thought it was a real treat. We are sooooo the ones running things around here.
Well, here is to new adventures in my Dora Bed.
Dad wrote in his blog how I had to go to Urgent Care last back on 2009-06-19 for breathing problems. They prescribed an oral steroid and breathing treatments with a nebulizer. The steroids were for 5 days and the breathing treatments were for TWO WHOLE WEEKS beyond my last cough. Last Thursday (2009-06-25) we went to my regular doctor - Dr. Patel. He thought two weeks was a bit excessive but noted that I was only at about 80% even after the full course of steroids and almost a week of breathing treatments. He said to go a few more days with the treatments and then to stop. Well, last night was my last breathing treatment assuming all goes well. I am breathing much better and now you can't keep me still :-)
Today we went to the Columbia Mall. Mom drove. She is getting better, I can actually relax enough to catch some Zs in the back seat. Anyway, when I woke up we were at the play area. I was a bit of a wall flower because of waking up in such a chaotic environment but things eventually settled down. On the way out of the mall Jasmine and Dad went on the Merry-Go-Round while I hung out with Mom. We went down an elevator and then we stopped at the water display.
You wouldn't believe it, they have a pool with water shooting up in the air right in the middle of the mall. I struggled to get my buckle undone so I could run over and check it out. As if an indoor water display weren't enough, there was MONEY in the bottom of the pool. I was so amazed I had to point it out to Dad - look I said, money.
He then gave Jasmine and I a couple of pennies to throw in the pond. This was fun. Then he gave us a dime. Still, it was small enough change that I didn't mind throwing it away. Then he gave me a quarter and told me to throw it.
Well I did proceed to clutch on to the quarter with all I had and tell him NO. Are you crazy or something? After Jasmine threw her quarter I took mine back to the stroller with me announcing it was time to go.
Having fun in the hot sun by being cool in the pool - I am a poet and didn't know it.
No, no need for applause or cards - just send money (just kidding).
We have been back from Vegas for a few days. I was sooo happy to be home. Dad says it was midnight when we got home but it only felt like 9PM - something about timezones he said. Whatever, I was too excited to go to bed. Jasmine and I ran around looking for all our favorite things and then playing with them to make sure they still worked. Seriously, I don't think I have been this excited to see a red plastic chair.
Anyway, Vegas was great. If Mom isn't too lazy she will help me write about it. We did lots of fun cool stuff. One night we went out to the Macaroni Grill with one of Dad's friends and her girlfriend that lives in Vegas. I am going to try and embed (that's what Dad called it anyway) a picture inside this blog post instead of posting in the photo section. I hope it works, it was taken on 2009-05-25
Oh, and don't forget to root for Mom and big sis. Mom still has a pretty bad cough though she says she is feeling much better. Jasmine has the same very intermittent cough but tonight her nose started running too - hopefully it is nothing.
